Why don't we use %100 capacity of our brain?

As far as ı know einstein is the most intelligent man was able to use his brain capacity of %4 or 7 .

I think this percent of usage is not satisfactory.

Why don’t we use the remain capacity of our brain?.

Is it possible to use the remain capacity? If yes how?

ok. I’m going to try and bridge the confusion here. this is to the best of MY knowledge but like every one I make mistakes. however I am studying to be am MRI technician so I have had to study this. anyway. you are able to use 100% of your brain. however at any given time you use less then 10%. all parts are used, just not at once. so in fact both of the sides above are correct. there are no “secret” or “locked” parts. but our metabolism cam only support so much activity. a computer is always a good analogy for the brain. If you over-clock you comp but don’t upgrade your cooling system what happens? it melts. now your brain wouldn’t actually melt but you would, with a human metabolism, die, painfully. This is coming from a med student but I know full well I can make mistakes thou I believe myself to be right in this case as it does concern my specialty. hope I helped.

for those who have said 100% are correct. it is a myth like others have said that we could lift things with our brain if we used more than 10% of our brain. its just a silly thing told to us by others when we are young to get our imagination going. now you remember teachers telling us that george washington chopped down his fathers cherry tree? well it comes to be that he didnt. and his teeth were not made of wood. silly thing are told to us at young ages and we carry that on. I agree with theta and hysterical.

Answer #3

Well, I learned that we do in fact use 100% of our brains from ‘science’.

Although saying you learned something from ‘science’ does not make it true. Take Mitosis for instance. For the longest time, interphase was considered the ‘resting phase’. Now, since the development of the electron microscope, we know that interphase does everything BUT rest.

My point is that science is always evolving. Sometimes people don’t want to let go of the past theories.

I’m all for a good debate…however, this myth has been debunked several times. Seeing as science is a subject that is constantly evolving and relies heavily on paradigms, perhaps you should constantly update your research. Especially before you go spewing ignorance around message boards.

Answer #4

Because we’re too busy thinking about myths.

Answer #5

chartreusechick is absolutely correct. The original fact was that we use 10% of our brain at any one time, not that we only use 10% of our brains.

Consider: The brain consumes upwards of 20% of all the energy you consume, far larger than any other organ in the body. Considering its relatively small size, that’s a staggering amount. It would make no sense whatsoever to have all that energy going to a 90% useless organ.

If you want to read up a bit on the ‘’science’’ behind why the 10% theory is completely bogus, you can check out Snopes’ excellent article here:

Answer #6

paintballin1017 if you learned that from your science class the I honestly don’t have a clue why your teacher even is teaching you.

  1. your cerebrum is the largest part of your brain, this part generally controls your vital functions such as respiration and heart rate. It also controls your voluntary muscles.

  2. your Thalamus is the part of the brain that is responsible relaying sensory messages to the brain.

  3. your hypothalamus is responsible for controlling appetite, thirst, and sleeping it also regulates the pituitary gland. (also known as the master gland)

  4. your cerebelum is the second largest part of your brain, it helps in movement coordination and keeps you balanced.

You can obviously tell from what I just showed you that we use far more than just 7% of our brain.

Answer #7

@ paintballin1017 that would be so awsome!!!Lol!and we do not use all of our brain. If we did we could find a way to live on another planet.TRUE FACT!!!(I got it from science btw)

Answer #8

you do not use 100% dont listen to charteusechick all I know is (I learned this from science) if we were able to use 100% of our brains we could lift objects with our minds…

Answer #9

like chartreusechick, we use all of our brain. Whomever told you that is by far an idiot. Don’t believe something that everyone tells you, that just makes you look gullible.

Answer #10

With the advancements in technology we have.. The answer is no. There is currently no way to use the remaining capacity. I know it seems like a waste of head meat, but that’s just the way things are. Maybe in the future more space will be unlocked but for know were going to have to run on the space we have.

Answer #11

We actually do use all of our brain. I’m not quite sure how that myth came to be, but it just makes no sense.
