I used to always play with my kittens like that and we raised and bred cats. as long as you don’t let them bite hard, there is no problem with it. When they start getting older just teach them not to do it all the time. They are smart and know when you are playing and when you aren’t. Not like some animals where you just have to not do it at all. They can learn when you are playing or when you don’t want to play.

I have a cat that bit. Every time she bit, I smacked her under the jaw. It took a year or so, but she learned, and hasn’t bit since. It’s true that cats are predators and bite by nature, but you can train a cat not to bite hands or feet, even when playing. My cat that used to bite loves to play fight my hand, but will not bite. She will take my hand in her mouth and hold, but has developed a very gently grip. She always lets me know when she’s had enough. She has a very powerful bite, too - I’ve watched her bite right though a chicken leg bone!

Answer #3

Kittens turn into cats. Cats are a predator. When they are young they practice pouncing, stalking and attacking to prepare themselves for getting their own lunch. It is instinct.

You should never play with your kitten with your hands or feet. She will see it as ok and continue the behavior. Whenever you want to play with your kitten use a cat toy instead.

If she does bite you firmly say no and either divert her attention with a toy or give her a quick mist or water from a spray bottle.
