Why does my dog think my parents are his owner

I sit there and im always playing with my dog.. he sleeps in my room in my bed. but my mum takes him out for walks. and feeds him, Is there anything I can do so it knows that I am its owner and not my parents ;l

Answer #1

the dog will consider whomever feeds him as his owner.. so if I were you, I would start feeding the dog and it probably wouldn’t hurt if you took him for walks too..

Answer #2

It is a dog. It has no concept of “owner” it just follows around the person that feeds him. Start taking care of your dog

Thanks. I took my dog out, for 2long walks to day :) one when I got up and one before I went to bed. the reason my mum feeds it and walk is because we own a farm and she takes it up there with our other dog. and I guess for feeding she just does it because of the other dog :l but I fed me dog to day twice :) but the hard thing is they get up at luk 6/7AM and I dont get up to 11ish and my dog wants to get out there with my mum dog in the mornings ;l

YOU need to do some walking with your dog…Feeding a dog won’t buy his love and devotion…but it helps…Take him to obedience class, so he can see you as a “leader” instead of just a playmate. Playing in house is “fun”, but dogs LOVE to walk…Your mom probably spends more time per day with the dog…

Also, some breeds will pick one person to have a “super-bond” with in a family, and it’s not necessarily the person who “owns” it…

Answer #5

dogs do not see owners, they see leaders. if you just feed your dog, he will just follow you for food and that is why he probably follows your parents, they give him what he wants, food and walks. if you want to be the leader, take control, take him on walks but instead of him out in front pulling on the leash, you stay in front and in control. and when feeding do not let him just dive into the food, make sure he eats when you say he can eat.

hope this helps

Answer #6

THE HAND THAT FEED HIM OWNS HIM!!!

Answer #8
