Why do my turtles freak out?

I have two turtles (half water/half land) and I’ve had them for over two years. Anyway, everytime someone goes near their aquarium they jump off their ramp extremely fast and end up like running into the walls and stuff like they are extremely scared. Why do they do that? I’m scared it’s going to really hurt their health, and also I don’t want it to seem like they are scared of me and others.

turtles do not like to be held, they are pets to observe, but not handle…its an insinctive trait in turtles to dash into the water for protection(as they are very fast swimmers)

its prbibly because hey either arnt around that many people or that its a new face that they dont reconize, or something bad could of happend before you got them and the motion was simmalar (sorry for the spelling im young but like turtles!)

I have the same type of turtles and they do the same thing. Shouldn’t worry because I’ve had them for like 4 yeRs and they are just fine but I’m not sure why they do that

its probz because you dont pay enuff attchion to em my snake use to bite me evryday intill I held it enuff that it got use to me and my lizerd tryes to bite me now because he had not been coming out for weeks so I didnt hold him and now that I try to put my hand in his cage he just hissis and trys to bite me but hell get ova it and your turtules should to if da don’t well mby go c a vet I always do with all my animals it could just be that you dont c em enuff and der scared of you

they probably feel threatened and feel like whoever is comming towards them is going to eat them? you could always try getting a tank with glass that you can see in but they cant see out of, that way they wont be able to see anything outside the tank
