I know exactly how you feel. I’m the same way and I’m in grade eleven. I’m a very shy person and I don’t think it’ll ever go away but the best way to try to get rid of it is by facing your fears. just remember that presenting will only take a couple of minutes of your life and you’ll be happy when it’s over.

I am the exact same. But what helps is if you go not first, but not last. Go like closer to the first though, because everyone will be so caught up in being nervous for themselves that they aren’t paying so much attention to you. I’m sure everyone else is just as nervous as you.

First of all, quit skipping class and missing the presentation. That makes it 50 times worse. The more you avoid something the more you become afraid of it. Shyness is basically just social phobia. Actually, presenting in front of other people is a VERY common fear. Most of the kids I work with have this fear. Now, think about when you’re sitting there and have to present. Are you really paying that much attention? Odds are everyone else probably isnt either. Now, what exactly is going through your head? Are you scared you will mess up? Practice before hand, so you know the speech and dont have to improvise. And remind yourself, what is the worst that can happen if you stumble over a word, or forget something, or make a mistake. So, you’ll just keep going. Who is going to remember your speech in 2 weeks (do you remember what anyone presented 2 weeks ago?). You’re psyching yourself out by imagining all sorts of horrible things. Seriously, no one cares. And remember, you know most of the people in your class. If you need moral support, tell a friend you’re kinda nervous and get them to pay attention, that way you can look at them if you need someone to encourage you and just smile to let you know you’re doing ok. Remember to take deep breaths, talk slowly (this will reduce the odds of you making a mistake), look up, and relax.

Don’t worry this happens to me too and I’m in grade 12. My hearts starts pumping really fast and my voice shakes whenever I speak (it’s quite embarassing). No matter how many times I have to present I am always nervous. Just remember that you are not alone. :) My advice to you is be one of the first people to present, as it is such a relief to get it over with. Even if you do stumble or whatnot if you go first people won’t even remember and chances are they’re not paying too muh attention anyway. Good luck!
