Why do I get made fun of for having an online girlfriend?

I have this online girlfriend that I love dearly. But I get made fun of by the people around me for it. Why is it so wrong? I see no bad in it. We exchange pictures, videos and even live chat sometimes. Sure we don’t live close so that kind of limits the things we can do together, but so what? I believe love can go beyond the boundries of the place you live in. We are both happy and in the end, isn’t that what matters? I have met some of the greatest people on the internet. So I could care less about the whole “not being able to touch” business. People who think like that are shallow in my opinion. It’s not like it’s completely impossible to meet one day.

Well, personally, I have a friend that has an online girlfriend and I always bag on him because I honestly think long distance relationships are a waste of time and that people need to actually meet the person they are dating. I don’t think you can love someone that you never get to see. Just my opinion. And I also agree with buckfutter

They know she is real! They just chose to be jerks! They have been around me when I talk to her and even talk to her themselves!

Answer #3

Well one thing that I have noticed is if no one else has met her then they wont believe you, so give them her number or email, let them realize that it is a real, and serious relationship. Most people don’t take long distance relationships seriously, so they probably think that they are just playing along with you.
