Why did australia federate?
Please I left my book at school and my friends are all drop outs so what are the few reasons to why australia federated???
Hi there, australia federated for a number of reasons. mostly social, ecomical and constitutionally.
Firstly was for the defence of australia.
the use of telecommunications(national telegram and postal service)
Currency and trade amongst the colonies.
Standardised taxation amongst the colonies.
A federal system of govermnet that could deal with national matters rather than the colonies.
the idea of a unified nation.
the idea of a constituition oulining future generations pathways and goverments.
so yeah that off the top of my head however if you want to find a number of reason search wikipedia.org, or find a textbook wich contains fedreation.
so hope that helps good luck
