Why can't we use cell phone while flying in a plane?

You can’t really use your cell phone that well on a plane anyways. Most provides will have no service in the skies because your way above the reach of there cell towers. Its like trying to climb a huge mountain and expecting to have service. Won’t happen

The ban on using cell phones aboard an airplane is bogus. Your cell phone is not going to do a thing to a properly working aircraft radio. The frequencies are nowhere near the same.

(If you remember, passengers aboard United Airlines Flight 93 used their cell phones when the plane was hijacked on September 11, 2001. The plane was flying low.)

The only valid reason to shut off your cell phone when flying is that it won’t reach a cell tower from 50,000 feet. That in turn means it will try over and over to reach a cell tower, using maximum battery power.

I agree that the ban on cell phones while on board a flying aircraft is bogus. And as to the signal problem; most commercial aircraft fly at altitudes of 35,000 feet or less. That is only six and a half miles with no obstructions. Shouldn’t be a problem.
