Why arnt I having a normal period?

I’v been waiting for my period to come, I am on birth control so I know I’m ready for it, but all I have is this brownish discharge, it’s lasted just about the same my normal period would. I have had sex so I’m a little worried, does this mean I might be pregnant? It’s also come to my attention that my birth control prescription has changed, both the pill, just different brand. Would switching brands cause this odd period? should I be worried that I’m pregnant?

hey thanks for the advice, I took a test and I’m fine, so hopefully this was just something to do with my new birth control pills. I’ll be sure to look more into that. but thanks for all the great advice!

Certain birth controls can cause lighter periods. The brownish discharge is probably that. If you practice safe sex, you shouldn’t be too worried about being pregnant. I do not think this discharge points to being pregnant, but if you are worried about it, I would get it checked out or try an at-home pregnancy test. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks thats really help full. although I really havent seen any real blood yet, and my period would be just about over by now. if every thing stops (the brownish discharge) and I dont see and blood should I start to worry? my boyfriend an I usually have very save sex, using a condom plus me being on the pill, but our last time we did not use a condom, now trying not to get to personal here, but I will say he did pull out before anything would “spill out”. maybe I’m just paranoid?

Brown spotting can be “Old Blood” Which can be a sympton of early pregnancy. Go buy a pregnancy test. If you dont have the $16-$25 to spend on a good one the $1 dollar store tests have been proven to be just as effective.

It could also just be normal due to the pill but perhaps consulting a professional would be a good way to go.
