Why are females so confusing :S

well, there is a girl at work who I have become pretty friendly with. She was really upset last night so I asked her the problem, and there is a guy she is good frinds with who had asked her out, and she didnt know what to say, I told her she should go out with him, as he is a nice bloke and seems to treat her well, she later told me that he said he had a crush on her, but she didnt want to go out with him becuase she liked someone else but she still wants to be friends with him, then laughed and said I was the only gerson she was telling this stuff to so I had to keep quiet.

Im feeling pretty lost and dont know where to take things from here, as I dont want to get in the way of her and the guy she didnt want to go out with. But I aslo want to know if I should be trying to harder with her, or whether she just thinks im a friend?

any ideas?
