Why am I scared of everything.. please, helppp!

so.. I’ve always really been afraid. I guess I get paranoid when I’m home alone, which I’m always home alone and I don’t mind it but I still get scared, and I know the doors are locked. I have to shower with a phone and a knife and I won’t come out of the bathroom for another 20 mins because I think someone is outside. I can’t leave things in a specific order, because if I come back, I’ll forget how I left them and think someone moved them. at night, it takes me a while to sleep because I’m afraid someone is coming. I think I see things from the corner of my eyes, I’m not schitzophrenic, I’m not 20. I want this to go away. it’s driving me insane. I want to stop feeling scared. I rarely watch scary movies. when I’m scared, anything is possible. I even have dreams about it. my last one was about two nights ago. am I crazy? ): I talked to my therapist but we haven’t really focused on it. help.

Answer #1

you have anxiety probably

Answer #2

Paranoia will destroya!! just be calm, have your knife ready if you want but no one’s gonna hurt you.

Answer #3

im not that knowledgable in this kind of stuff but I think your just worried because you hear about this stuff on the news and comercials try to scare you into thinking that someone will break in your house so youll buy their alarm. I used to think that someone was walking up behind me while I was facing the other way in bed so I put a bb gun next to my bed to scare them away. after that I felt safer. and here are some tips to help you feel safer from burglers:

dont put a fence or tall bushes in your front yard so you will be more open

instal a light that comes on if someone walks within like ten feet of it

and (if you can find one at a hardware store or somewhere) get one of those lights that turn on and off every five mins so they will think your home and awake

I wrote a lot sorry :) but I hope that helped!

good luck

Answer #4

thanks so much! I avoid watching news or anything like that, it only freaks me out more, but I agree. and I love the idea with the light. if someone starts walking up my stairs, I’ll know. I love it. =) thanks so much, honey.

Answer #5

I know. Noise used to make me feel safe. I’d do the same, talk to myself, make noise, put loud music but recently, I can’t put it too loud when I’m scared because then I feel I wont hear it when someone breaks in or if there’s a noise. this has been going on since I was seven. but, thanks. =) it’s really great to know someone else who felt the same way. :D
