Why am I gaining weight all of a sudden?
Ok, so I’ve have been gaining weight and its really starting to bug me. I tried not eating as much and exercise but that didn’t work. I’m 13…and how do I lose weight? I’m 5’5 and almost 120 lbs. My mom says it’s all muscle because I did tumbling for 3 years and got rock hard abs (too bad there gone). Thx for your help
It could be insuline resistance, talk to your doctor about it and they’ll test you.
your 13? well my sister says it pretty normal to gain weight and it probably is muscle because muscle weighs like a lot more then fat
With a normal 13 year old metabolism, it shouldn’t be too hard to lose weight, just push hard and fast when you exercise. The harder you move the more excess energy (stored fats) you deplete. It seems at this age too that your body is in transition so new things will pop up over night it seems. Your mass is ever changing so don’t sweat it too much. Just run or something very energetic, but like I said, do it hard. :) Peace
hey, well at your age (13) your body begins to grow into itself. you get bigger (or in some cases smaller, sometimes it depense on your dna), and new things pop up overnight. if you dont mind me asking, have you had your period yet? because sometimes it can be that. just before you get your period you can bloat, and the first time you get it it can be a lot more drastic for your body. it could very possibly be muscle, if you are doing regular excersise. If you are gaining only fat you will notice on your stomach, bum, and thighs (which are the most common fatty areas for women), also, your boobs may be growing, and this will cause a few kilos of weight depending on how big they get.
in regards to loosing weight, the healthier you eat the better, but as you are at such a young age, simply eating healthy and vigorous excersise will be positive, as anything drastically changing (like a diet that cuts down your food largely) will have a negative effect on your body in its transition stage.
you may also be gaining weight because you have previously eaten a lot less than usual, and your body began to conserve it sources and ‘fast’’ as a result. then, when you have eaten, your body has taken all the nutrients (and also fats and sugars) out of your food because it doesnt know when it will get them again.

im also 13, and trust me its muscle, I do 40 miles of kayakin every day cept saturday when I go gymnastics. I would say im kinda fit. I weigh 100 lms. and am very muscly. dont worry about it xx
