Why am I constantly coughing?

Okay, so about last week I had a cold, so I was all sick and stuff coughing like crazy, stuffy nose, headache and all that. But it’s been a week now and I don’t have anymore headaches but I still have a stuffy/snotty nose (yeah I know it sounds gross but it is what it is) and I’m still coughing! Like the coughs are annoying and its like heavy coughs and my throat is starting to hurt. Should I be concerned? Or would this go away soon because I’m getting tired of coughing like every one or three minutes!

I could have written this! I went to the doctor last night to get my lingering cough taken care of. You SHOULD be concerned; mine turned into bronchitis. The constant coughing irritated my bronchial tubes and they got inflamed, so I wasn’t even able to expel the mucus; it’s a vicious cycle. Go to the doctor; they’ll be able to take it care of. I feel TONS better today. They’ll probably put you on antibiotics (for your sinuses and for the chest infection that it sounds like you may have), and prescribe an expectorant and/or a cough suppressant so you can sleep better. The docs even gave me a steroid inhaler to help with the bronchial inflammation (that tickling cough, the coughing fits that just wont stop)- and they work GREAT. Good luck, and feel better!

if you dont have any other symptoms the coughing might just be to clear the mucus from the chest area. Are you coughing up mucus? An expectorant cough syrup could help. Talking to a doctor is a good idea incase it is something else.

Go speak to your doctor. It sounds like you might have picked up a lung infection.
