Who thinks violin is a hard instrument?

What do you think about the violin? Is it hard or easy and why?

Answer #1

I used to play the violin. It was actually very easy for me, I was able to pick up the notes by hearing. My only problem was that I never practiced. If you’re gonna play the violin, and it’s not a natural talent for you, you must, you have to practice. Otherwise the notes will always sound different or the same to you and you’ll end up failing to tell the difference between notes. You need to get your fingers, hands/arm movement for the bow, and hearing used to it. Once you play it for awhile, you’ll get used to it, and music will come easy.

Just keep your bow on the strings, and away from the bridge. Just around the middle of the board and bridge. Keep your arms up. Get yourself into a comfortable position you know you can focus with. And practice. Calm down if you’re frustrated and when you practice and get used to it, you’ll start flowing along with the music =P maybe.

Answer #2

If you practice it will be easy! It shouldn’t be a chore if you love what you’re doing! Do you play the violin? JB

Answer #3

I used to play violin but I quit because I thought it was too hard… then again I was only ten lol. It’s kind of like guitar, it your finger is off by a little bit on a string, then it sounds horrible so it was frustrating for me.

Answer #4

It’s pretty easy once you get use to it. 4Strings, a bow, rosen, and your arms&hands. And when you start out, you can put tapes so you know where you need to put your fingers. I’ve been playing for3years now, I play 1st violin, and 2nd chair in my orchestra(1st violin are the people who are more advanced, and usually play higher notes, and you get chaired on how good you are, 1being the best)

Answer #5

I play the violin. I’ve been playing for over 5 years and I admit that although it can be a little tricky, it is easier the more you practice. It is very rewarding and although for the first few months it is a bit confusing. You can achieve so much on the violin, also, I disagree with babbyl, as its nothing like a guitar because

  • it has less strings -you use a BOW
  • it has no frets (just one long board) -the oldder the violin the better

There are quite a few things to remeber when playing the violin, but you should not play it if you give up easily, you need to be able to push yourself and not get too frustrated
