Who thinks it is wrong to show too much violence on television?

I am doing a debate in school and the motion is “It is a good thing to show violence on television”. I am against it. I do not think it is a bad thing to show a bit of violence in a television show but nearly every show you watch today has some sort of violence/threat/bullying in it today. So, I would like to know what your opinions are on the subject. Thank-you to those who answer:)

I think its wrong to show violence in tv and anywhere else because it would influence the one who is watching it, change the way of thinking (I.e. maybe they solved the problems by speech and after watching violence their solution might be a fight etc..) I am defenetly against violence!!! violence shouldnt be the solution I think! …ok a bit of violence its ok but only the small amount just enough to know how to defend your self!

I think that it’s getting a bit ridiculous really. I feel like they’re almost censoring too much out. Like what they did to Sesame Street? I couldn’t believe that. And any childrens show that has bullying or such in it usually has some kind of moral ending to teach children a lesson of some kind.

this is just a guess, but I think being exposed to too much violence may have a possibility of desensitizing people on actual violence (I.e. Not the one on tv). when you are already desensitized from violence, you feel as if its just a normal thing, way of life, and something that’s accepted.

I think its ok to see violence on tv but not ALWAYS. We still need to know that it does exist and we need to be aware of it so we can combat it.

However, I dunno if violence will ever be eradicated or minimized on tv because it adds to the drama, sensationalism, and gore of the film.

I hardly ever watch violence on TV, not to mention my kids NEVER watch it. =)
