Who out of you has symbolic tattoos and what do they mean to you?

Do any of you have tattoos that are symbolic of something important to you? If so what is the tattoo and what does it mean to you?

For me personally this saterday im getting a butterfly on my lower stomach designed by a family friend who is actually dying of aids at the moment, underneath it’s going to say “the time will come”. I recently lost a baby and this to me is a way of honoring that child I had been carrying.

@hysterial… You are lucky that you have that necklace. I would love to have something that my dad gave me. I have a jacket that was his, but he didn’t ‘give’ it to me. I wish I had something like the necklace.

I do have a bracelet that my mom gave to me. I put it on when she gave it to me and I have never taken it off since. Its a silver bangle and it is the most precious thing I own :)

I have 5. One is a seabee. When I was in the navy, another is a great whit I got after my dad died. It’s identical to his. I have another shark on my arm that represents my daughters personality. (fighsty). That’s all on my right arm. On my left I have a tiger shark from when my girls where little ankle bitters. And a whale for my youngests. Attitude she’s relaxed and loving

I have a one eyed Jack (of spade) surrounded by plants on my right arm. My father had the Jack of spade tattoo because his name was Jack. After he passed I got it in memory of him. I got the surrounding plants to look like a forest floor. The plants are slightly growing over the card symbolizing him going back into the earth.

On my left arm I have a tattoo symbolizing my mother. Its sort of difficult to explain, but I got a sun with a ray of light shining into a prism producing a rainbow. The rainbow gets smaller and comes out as venom from a green scorpion’s tail.

I’m not done with either tattoo though…I need a lot more money! lol

I currently have two tattoos. My 1st is of a sunrise over a mountain in my hometown. I woke up to that each morning and when I moved (about 3 years ago) I missed it so much that I decided I would get it tattooed on me so some part of my hometown was always with me. My second tattoo (the scorpion) is a representation of me.The exoskeleton being the walls I put up to protect myself, the stinger-my anger and the scorpions habitat (the desert) representing that I can survive through almost anything if I try.

Haha it’s not “restricted” to tattoos that was just my curiosity, but yes I’ll make this a more vast question, what is something you have thats symbolic to you?

Answer #6

Wish it wasn’t only restricted to tattoos but I do have some other symbolic things.

I have this necklace that my dad gave me which was pretty much the last time I saw him, Its a cross and to me it means to have faith and one day I’ll come and see you again.
