Who in the medical feild will hire a felon?

In the past I’ve got into a lot of trouble.out of all the trouble, I was charged and convicted of a felony. I’ve been out of prison now for a year and a half. My son is now 5 months old and im really wanting to go to college to better myself and set a good example for him.the medical feild is where I want to start but im just not sure if I have a chance on employment because of my past criminial record! Do you know of any part of the medical feild that I would have a chance in or any feild that would be a good choice.

If you robbed somebody or have any kind of violent crime in your past, this dream simply wont come true for you. You’re what they would consider to be a liability. If it’s drug related you can GUARANTEE not to be hired because, well, they have drugs all over the place and can’t risk you getting into them. I don’t think enough time has passed to where you can say you have been ‘on good behavior’ for it to make an impact on as hardworking and upstanding citizens as doctors and hospital administrators tend to be. They’d have to put too much trust in the hopes that you’ll do the right thing all of the time, because you’re in charge of other people’s health, safety, and well being. They don’t give that trust to most people who haven’t been to prison, so its unlikely they’ll give it to somebody who has.

There are plenty of other options for you though! Like Dantekin said, a mechanic can make a ton of money- my neighbor makes nearly $40 per hour after taxes. If you’re really interested in medicine, perhaps you could go into veterinary care. Its a bit harder, as you have to learn feline, canine, human (yes, human), small animal, reptile, and other creatures’ anatomies, but I would think you’d have a better chance getting your foot in the door there.

The medical field is one of the hardest fields to get into with a criminal past. You can understand why. You’re dealing with sensitive information if you’re behind the scenes and have access to medical supplies, and you’re dealing with people’s lives if you’re actually working with them. I would talk to the college advisors where you plan on starting. Get some career counseling. They may have more information.
