Do cliques exist in American highschools?

Do cliques still exist in American Highschools? I’m in Australia and they don’t exist over here as such, well in my school they don’t. I was wondering if it is like as the media portrays them. Like in mean girls do you all sit at different tables and not socialze with other people, like that and the ‘popular’ people are horrible to social loners/losers/geeks/ whoever. Or does the media exagrate it all?

Yes. It’s close to being in a movie like that in some cases. (I wont name it because I don’t want to be associated with such talentless garbage) Of course, the media exaggerates everything, but it is based on at least some bit of truth/reality. I moved a lot when I was young, therefore I was always the new kid. As an outsider I saw all the petty little cliques and social identities that people distracted themselves with.

American education is a waste of time, due to rampant social profiling and cliques. This is why I think there should be uniforms, hair regulations, and makeup/piercing bans enforced in all schools. Basically identity regulation. Minors have the right to learn and grow. That’s about it I believe. If everyone were ‘’ugly’’ until adulthood, nobody would get picked on or labeled in school, and they could focus on more important things…like getting a proper education to avoid being a 35 year old teenager

YESSS AND ITS CRAZY!!! BUT MOSTLY IN MIDDLE SCHOOL in MS the kids had sooo many cliques and sub cliques it was unbearable there were so many cliques you HAD to be in one or there really was nowhere to sit in the cafeteria. well that was my MS anyways :P but High School is nothing like that for me we have free lunch so barely anyone is in the cafeteria. some are in halls and the CROWDS are sort of split like that but not really. only the freshman participate in cliques still because they just got out of MS and most of us are just friends with eachother. and we go out to eat btw tv is a bit verymuch over exaggerated… but some of the stuff like bullies and loners are real. I’ve met I think only 1 person who was actually beat up by kids in the school. but he wasnt nerdy he didnt wears high waters he was just picked on for not much of a reason. and also I’ve never seen anyone get their lunch money taken…

omg middle school is horrible im in 7th grade and there are three of them. The bad part is I don’t know which one I belong inn :-/ but anyywayys if you ever leave a “clique” makee sure you thinkk twice bout it before you dooo.
