Which is safer, anal or vaginal sex?

A lot of people enjoy anal sex and practice it regularly with their partners. Anal sex is tricky, because there is obviously a lot more bacteria available to be spread. Rule of thumb, if you and your partner are having sex and you decide to have anal sex, DO NOT switch back to regular or oral sex without changing your condom, and maybe even washing. It’s just a really bad idea.

Vaginal sex can obviously also be enjoyable for both parties, and you aren’t dealing with the high amounts of bacteria available to be spread. There is still risk of transmitting diseases, so make sure to use protection (all the time!) if you want to protect your health.

And as always, the quality of your sexual experience relies heavily on WHO you are having sex with. If it is someone that you trust, someone who cares for you and wants to make it his/her goal to help you enjoy, then the choice between anal and vaginal won’t seem so important.

Safer? For what? Pregnancy would be anal. But health wise, I’d say vaginal because there’s not near as much bacteria and you put off different hormones and things.

HIV spreads much quicker with anal sex. In that sense, it’s much more dangerous.

I can’t tell you which is better, it is simply a matter of personal preference. Anal sex tends to be a little more risky in transmitting STDs and there’s a lot more bacteria so vaginal is safer, however if you practice safe sex and are careful you should be fine doing either.
