Whats the odds of a dog being pregnant after mating?
Hi, does anyone know what the odds/chances are of a staffordshire bull terrier being pregnant after 1 mating (they tied) while on the 14 day on heat! The dogs was also put together on the 10th and 12th day of her heat, but she would not stand for the dog and got a bit agressive (which is unusual for her) so we assumed she was not quite ready then. The mating happend 3 week ago and she appears pregnant. She is eating more, sleeping more, gained a little weight, has prominent teats a firm abdomen and she seems depressed. She is going to the vets in 2 weeks time to check if she is pregnant or to see if its a false pregnancy. Until then as anyone got any thoughts on this (pregnant or false pregnancy?) also if anyone knows the odds please let me know! Thanks! ps. All health checks done, it was planned and both dogs are kc reg. Thanks again
yes, I would say as long as they tied the chances are good. Whatch for signs, and there is a test but don’t know if you want to go that far
She’s probably pregnant…Let’s just say the odds are very good… :)
14 day I would say she is pregnant. Good rule of thumb is 7 days coming into the breeding stage, 7 days she is ready and 7 days going out, but she can as with all things with Mother Nature get pregnant at any of the stages. Nothing is for sure.
But what I am trying to say is 14th is a good day she should have been ready to catch. Sounds like you marked it on the calender? Now count 63 days and 7 days before that start taking her temp. When it drops from 101 to 99 degrees due within hours.
