I found this info for you:

Your liver makes cholesterol for your body. You also can get cholesterol from the foods you eat. Meat, fish, eggs, butter, cheese, and whole or low-fat milk all have cholesterol in them. You need some cholesterol to help your brain, skin, and other organs grow and do their jobs in the body. But eating too much of it is a bad idea, especially for people whose bodies already make too much cholesterol. It floats around in your blood and can get into the walls of the blood vessels and stay there. If you have too much cholesterol in your bloodstream, a lot can collect in the blood vessel walls, causing these “pipes” to become narrower. This can clog the blood vessels and keep blood from moving freely the way it’s supposed to. If the clogging gets worse over many years, it can cause damage to important body parts, like the heart (heart attack) and brain (stroke).

Cholesteral doesn’t make you gain weight, no.

Basically, it’s a natural, waxy substance that gets transported around in your blood. The problem is that certain types of cholesterol have a tendency to clog up the blood system, leading to an greater risk of heart attacks and strokes - also in young people.

That’s why the current medical advice is to avoid solidified fats (as in cakes and cookies), dairy fats, and the fats in most meats. They’re the bad guys, so to speak.

On the other hand, most vegetables, fruit, fish and wholegrain products don’t have high concentrations of these fats, so they’re better for your heart. And, purely incidentally, most of them are foods that otherwise are low in calories and help you lose weight. But that isn’t directly connected with cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a lipid that is produced by the liver and is needed to produce hormones, to build cell walls, create vitamin D, and produce bile which is needed for digestion. Too much cholesterol which you can get from foods you eat can lead to heart disease, so it is important to monitor your cholesterol intake. http://kidshealth.org/teen/question/dieting/cholesterol.html Go to: http://www.akatoo.com/question.html?question_id=4884508 for examples of foods that lower cholesterol.
