What word is right...DINNER...Or...SUPPER?

Ok so my mate says its supper, after the last supper…but isnt supper after dinner when you have a snack! who is right…My mate…or ME :D?

Answer #1

Dinner means the main meal of the day, so, depending on your region, it’s either the midday meal or the meal in early evening.

Supper is the last meal of the day, so that could be either the early evening meal, or even a late meal before bed.

At any rate, it’s all relative to where you come from and what eating habits you’re raised with.

Answer #2

Well for me I call my three main meals of the day in this order- Breakfast, dinner, supper. I don’t know if that’s right, it’s just the way I do it.

Answer #3

I believe supper is after dinner. So I think your right. Not sure though. All I know is I eat when I get hungry, I don’t exactly use names to specify the times when I do get hungry so that’s on you. But I think your right though.

Answer #4

supper is a small snack that you have before bed, and dinner is your evenin meal, but here in england we call it tea, and we call lunch dinner. wierd right?

Answer #5

morning food is breakfast, dinner is midday grub, evening food is tea… everything after is a snack.. on my manor anyway ;)

Answer #6

in my place, we use dinner and supper interchangeably. LOL What we have are:

  • breakfast (morning)
  • lunch (12 nn)
  • dinner/supper (anytime at night, usually around 6 to 9 pm)
  • If you want to snack between breakfast - lunch or lunch - dinner, its just called a snack. but if you want to snack after dinner/supper, we call it midnight snack even though its technically not midnight.
Answer #7

I reckon it is actually dinner because supper is the snack after dinner(:
