What will happen to my hair if I get highlights{it's my first time?

I’m 15 and I have dark brown-almost-black, curly/wavy, medium length hair and I want to dye my bangs and tips blonde. It’s my first time doing it, so I want to know if my hair will be really badly damaged if I do it? and some advise on what I can do to keep it healthy if I do go through with it.

your hair will be fine! especially if you are coloring it for the first time. virgin hair is the best to work with, but because your hair is so dark it may only lighten to a darker blonde, but it depends you may get a lighter result also. if you are going to the salon to get your hair done, they will probably use a 20 volume peroxide, which is the most commonly used strength because it wont open your hair cuticle fully, but you will see great results. when you use drug store color, the only peroxide used is 30 volume which is a much stronger formula. the reason why they use this formula is because when people go into a store to buy hair color it has to work for everyones hair type whether it be fine, thick, or resistant wiry hairs. so you never know what to expect when you do it with a box dye. I would strongly recommend going to a professional so your hair turns out the color you want, and so your hair stays healthy. after you get your hair colored you can use a deep conditioner. use it once or twice a week. you can also do a hot oil treatment by applying a deep conditioner to your hair, and than adding hair oil (I love biosilk and Moroccan oil) - apply a generous amount. then wet a towel, squeeze out excess water, and put it in the microwave for 90 seconds. it will be extremely hot when you take it out. wrap it around your head and leave it on for 20 minutes. your hair will feel amazing, and will help repair any damage.

Lol, Nothing. It will only get really damaged if you do it a lot of times. It should be fine. =)
