What should I do in this love situaion?

Last night I finally told him how I feel. I have been talking to him for a month and a week and I couldn’t take it anymore. I just said “I have feelings for you.” He doesn’t know how he feels for me yet, “Even if we don’t become more just know I care.” (is what he said) Also he says he doesn’t know how he feels about me. So yea he says he cares about me and doesn’t want to hurt me and shows consideration. Is this rejection or does he actually need more time to sort out how he feels? What should I do?
