What should I do about my dark roots and red color?

I know there are many questions like mine, but here is my situation. I first started with highlighting my naturally dark brown hair with a few caramel highlights. nothing chunky just a few throughout the hair (at home). Then, after doing that a few times I decided to dye my hair all over a lighter shade of brown. At first it seemed fine, but throughout the summer it began to look redder and redder. So for the past months I’ve been using natural dark brown hair color to dye my hair every few months because my dark natural roots grow out and the reddish/bronze-y parts mainly on the top of my hair show up. I’m not sure whether I should spend the 100 bucks to go to the salon and see what they can do or if using dark natural brown at home boxes is my best bet. I just hate seeing the reddish/bronze color on the top of my hair, especially when my hair is straightened the difference between my dark brown roots and the red is pretty noticeable. any suggestions would be great!

-thanks in advance

go get your hair bleached and then dye it the color you want thats what I did or you can just let it row out
