What's suitable for a rat?

Ok…my mom has this 29 gallon fish tank in the garage that she’s allowing me to use, because she just recently got a bigger tank for actual fish.I’d like to get a pet rat or two,but I’m not sure what to do about it.I’ve seen several conflicting websites: one says that as long as the tank is at least 15 gallons,it’ll be fine, then there’s another one that says that it has poor ventilation and heavy.

The tank is 12”Lx24”Wx18”H.Would that be alright for one or two rats,or should I invest in a wire cage?

Answer #1

dont use a tank cage and if you get them get two females…

Answer #2

no, dont use a tank its best to use a cage for them one of those wire cages, there not that expensive you can also find some good ones on ebay, or look around and you could get a second hand one for next to nothing
