What opinion do guys have on giving your g/f a ring?

Well I recieved a ring on my finger 3years into a relationship!! yay so happy I cried made me close my eye and count to 20 and there it was a beautiful box with a diamond ring!! the best gift ever. What do guys think about this? why does it take so long? is it the commitment of a ring that makes it scary? please advice.

Hmmm kinda depends what sort of a ring we’re talking about… if it’s ment as a gift then I probably wouldn’t feel like there’s a commitment behind it if I gave it to my girlfriend, however if it’s ‘’the ring’’ about taking it 1 step further, then I’d prefere to wait a few years before I’d dare start think about it. I’d need to be a 100% convinced that I believe I would want to go on with my girlfriend the rest of our lives, before I’d give her an engagement ring. I’d not want to rush into a commitment only to see a few years later that it was a mistake and I would have to deal with seperation and such. It isn’t getting into a commitment that scares me… I am fearing more if I’d have to go out of it again :)

well I don’t think it matters when they do it, really. some guys don’t think there is a big committment in it, and some think there is too much! my boyfriend got me a very expensive diamond ring after dating for four months, and was really nervous about it, but did it anyway! so it’s probably very scary, but it’s a part of the relationship that has to happen at a certain point :P

it probably is :) its a good thing. a guy probably wont give you something like that if he’s not invested in you too much. so yeah its good. congrats! :)
