What is wrong with my hamster!?

My hamster is usually lively and always eats her food. But when I woke up today, and went downstairs to give her her morning snack, she was acting really weird. She wobbles back and forth unsteadily, and wont open her eyes, even to the smell of food. (Which is really strange because she loves food.) She has had ample amount of time to wake up, so I know its not because she is tired. Also, her fur seems to be thinning out on her bum and thighs. I’m not sure it its just old age, because she was fine yesterday…

I didn’t know wether to say this or not, last thing I want to do is upset you. But this sounds like what happened to my hamster not long before he died. He was around 2 and a half years old. He couldn’t open his eyes were always closed because he had what looked like sleep in them, I used to get a warm wet cloth to try and dab it away. He wasn’t as lively as he used to be either. So it may just be old age, just try to make sure she has everything she needs.

Aw, I am in the same boat as you hon. I have an adorable dwarf hamster and he’s about 2…His eyes close and I have to wash em gently from time to time .We clean his cage often so it’s not a matter of poor hygiene, I think he’s just gettin’ old =/

She doesn’t have crust in her eyes, but thank you very much, I will look out for it.
