It might be this bizarre skin condition called pytariasis rosea. I had it about 4 months ago. It started as a rash like you’re describing, on the inside of my wrist, and it lasted quite a while. (Like toadaly suggested, my mother also thought it was ringworm). I later developed a few little red spots on my tummy, that soon started to spread. So, I went to the doctor, and right away he diagnosed me with that.

There is no known cause for it and it’s absolutely harmless. It gets worse before it gets better, though. Basically, your entire torso can end up covered with these tiny red spots that don’t even itch or anything. They get slightly larger, and later turn kinda scaly, and then just disappear with no trace that they were ever there. The doc prescribed me with a cream that can soothe any itching, but they never got itchy so I never even had the prescription filled. Oh yeah, and the explanation for the rash on the wrist? It’s what they call the “herald patch,” which shows up quite some time before the rest of the spots, and is usually far away from the other spots.

It sounds so weird, I know. But I had it for about three months, and then like I said the spots just went away with no scarring or anything. All I could do was wait it out. And it’s one of those once in a lifetime things that you will never get again.

it mite be either hives or exzema I have the same thing and if you put a zinc based cream on it it should clear up in a couple days, baby diaper rash cream works pretty good

Answer #3

It sounds like ringworm. Since you’ve waited this long anyway, you might as well try over the counter ringworm medications to see if they’ll work.

Answer #4

you need to see a doctor to find out what caused the rash and how to get rid of it
