What is this song??

There was this song that my English techer played in class that listed popculture about like the 70s,80s,dont remember which year haha. I dont remember what it was called though and I think that song will help me on a history project. It listed things about that time..random things and it made a list. I do remember it said jelly beans and cheesecake but nothing else. I need the name of this song. Thanks.

Not sure if this is it because it’s country, but it’s called 19-Something by Mark Wills. Here is a video and the lyrics…

I saw Star Wars at least 8 times Had the pac-man pattern memorized And I’ve seen the stuff they put inside Stretch Armstrong

I was Roger Stauback back in my back yard Had a shoebox full of baseball cards And a couple of Evil Kinevil scars On my right arm Well, I was a kid when Elvis died And my mama cried

Chorus: It was 1970- something In the world that I grew up in Farrah Faucett hair-do days Bell bottoms and 8-track tapes looking’ back now I can see me And oh, man did I look cheesy But I wouldn’t trade those days for nothin’ It was 1970-something

It was the dawning of a new decade When we got our first microwave And Dad broke down and finally shaved Those sideburns off I took the stickers off of my Rubix cube Watched MTV all afternoon My first love was Daisy Duke In them cut off jeans A Space Shuttle fell out of the sky And the whole world cried

Chorus: It was 1980-something In the world that I grew up in Skating rinks and Black Trans Ams Big hair and parachute pants looking’ back now I can see me And oh, man did I look cheesy But I wouldn’t trade those days for nothin’ It was 1980-something

Now I got a mortgage and an SUV But all this responsibility Makes me wish sometimes Sometimes…

chorus: It was 1980-something In the world that I grew up in Skating rinks and Black Trans Ams Big hair and parachute pants looking’ back now I can see me And oh, man did I look cheesy But I wouldn’t trade those days for nothin’ It was 1980-something

1970-something Aw, it was 19-Something

Mike’s probably right, but here’s another song that lists stuff from the 80’s :)

1985 by Bowling for Soup…

Woohoohoo Woohoohoo

Debbie just hit the wall She never had it all One Prozac a day Husband’s a CPA Her dreams went out the door When she turned twenty four Only been with one man What happened to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress She was gonna be a star She was gonna shake her a*s On the hood of Whitesnake’s car Her yellow SUV is now the enemy Looks at her average life And nothing has been alright since

Bruce Springsteen, Madonna Way before Nirvana There was U2 and Blondie And music still on MTV Her two kids in high school They tell her that she’s uncool Cause she’s still preoccupied With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoohoo (1985) Woohoohoo

She’s seen all the classics She knows every line Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink Even Saint Elmo’s Fire She rocked out to Wham Not a big Limp Bizkit fan Thought she’d get a hand On a member of Duran Duran

Where’s the mini-skirt made of snake skin And who’s the other guy that’s singing in Van Halen When did reality become T.V. Whatever happened to sitcoms, game shows (on the radio was)

Springsteen, Madonna Way before Nirvana There was U2 and Blondie And music still on MTV Her two kids in high school They tell her that she’s uncool Cause she’s still preoccupied With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoohoo

She hates time make it stop When did Motley Crue become classic rock? And when did Ozzy become an actor? Please make this stop Stop! And bring back

Springsteen, Madonna Way before Nirvana There was U2 and Blondie And music still on MTV Her two kids in high school They tell her that she’s uncool Cause she’s still preoccupied With 1985

Woohoohoo

It’s called ‘’It’s the End of the World as We Know It’’ by REM.

It’s not really referencing pop culture. It’s more of a stream-of-consciousness rant by Michael Stipe about his early years in a professional band. The cheesecake and jelly beans references a party he attended in which that was the only food served.
