Umm, no. Red neck is a term that is referred to when speaking of what is considered a commoner/low class person from the South of USA ( see moe’s answer)

When someone calls you a redneck it is usually because they believe that you are stupid or has a lower intelligence.

No, it’s supposed to be an insult, but since this person was joking I wouldn’t take it too seriously. It basically means you’re from the country.

I’ve heard it was people who like worked hard outside all day and when the sun was shining, they would get sunburnt, hense why they say red necks. That’s what I’ve always known it to mean, it’s not actually an insult, just means you work hard.

oringally it did refur to farmers, and the sun burn thing. there are two definations and it depends on where you are and who is calling who a red neck. to some it is a turm for cunty folk, aka crakers, every place has a diferent turm for them. The other deffination is some one who is back words, racist fly the confidrit flag ect. so take your pick.
