What is a prom? I know schools in America have them, but what are they for? We don't have school proms in England ~_~
I don't know what they're for in America
But in Australia we have proms, but we don't call it a "Prom" we refer to it as a "formal"
Its usually in Last year (Yr 12) that we have it and its kind of like a rite of passage kind of thing
Its a dance, kind of fancy dinner and venue involved and its just basically celebrating your last year of being a Senior and going on to next year where you will probably not see a majority of your classmates and teachers as you go to study at different collages etc.
Teachers and the Head Master usually attends the formal and there are different themes for each year
I guess its kind of the same to the Americans but all I know its a cool experience to share with your friends, class mates and if likely a date. I know that when I watched my brothers "Prom" video I cried - because I'm in Yr 11,nearly reaching Yr 12 this year and celebrating the end to a experience amongst friends and classmates, and leaving to enter the world is pretty much intimidating and sad... I know I'll cry at the end of my prom =] or most likely my Graduation =]
Hi (: we do have probs in England lol, but they have like senior prom and we only have a prom at the end of year 11. but yeah you dress up, go with someone or with friends, and you dance, its a very formal occaision (:
Thanks for all the infomation alwaysinada3e :) I notice now that we had something similar in my school, a leavers do we called it. It's more similar to a prom than I thought : ]
