What is a good price for a band to play at a show?

im in a band of 5 people, drummer, bassist, 2 guitarists, and a vocalist.. and we got asked how much we’d charge for a show. how much should we charge? its local, within 5 miles of us all and it would technically be our first paid gig

also if your old enough to drink make sure you do it for free especially if your playing a bar

Honestly, take anything they will give you. Just to get your name out there. My mom is a pianist, and when she started out, she did all of her gigs for free, just to make contacts and get her name out there. Shes now in hugh demand just because people have seen her everywhere, and the reason people have seen her everywhere is because at the start she was free so everybody wanted her. It will be hard work, but wayyy worth it in the long run.
