Home More advice Entertainment
My hubby's grandparents have been feeling a bit bummed as a recent health issue has kept them mostly contained at home. So I am here asking for hobby/activity suggestions that are low impact and can be done at home (or very closeby)
My mother is hedging towards 90 years old. She got into computers and it has changed her life around completely. She searches for medical advice, recipies, chats in different chat rooms, keeps in constant touch with her kids via email and video phone on line, sends phtots back and forth that she takes with her digital camera ... and most recently, (my father was killed by lightening in 1984), she went on line and found herself another husband. They got marrried and are most content with each other. A small laptop with an internet connection may be one suggestion. The internet is full of things that they can locate to match their own interests. In addition, it is light and portable and with tv, weather, news, newspapers, libraries, movies and videos ... etc... on line... it just may be the ticket to help them change from one phase of their lifestyle as it was, to another phase as it is today.
Board games movies story telling, I've noticed elder people usually love telling stories haha but those are the main ones I can think of
Tai Chi (good for physical fitness, mental alertness, and can be done with limited space).
Gardening...my dad does that and he's 65 now.
