Answer #1

Most babies don’t have a bowel movement in the womb, but for those who do, it’s a sign of fetal distress. The black tarry looking substance actually stays in the amniotic sack with them and when your water breaks it appears as anywhere from a green to a dark black substance.

The baby’s urine is actually what makes up a good part of the amniotic fluid, which the baby breathes to survive.

Answer #2

Not a dumb question at all.

Answer #3

Well… when I was 7 months pregnant my water broke and I started leakin amniotic fluid… my doctor told me not to worry about it getting to low because the baby swallows the amniotic fluid and pee’s to make more so it’s constantly making more. The baby swalling amniotic fluid is only harmful if the baby has a bowel movement in the fluid and swallows it after the baby has been born.

Answer #4

yeah thats what I kind of thought about the urine because I have heard that if a baby swallos the amniotic fluid its harmful.
