What goes through a deaf persons mind?

What goes through a deaf persons mind when they think about things? I mean when I think of something, for example, if I have to pick my daughter up from school, I hear the words in my head. “I have to pick her up at school” being deaf you obviously don’t hear the words. Do they just see themselves doing whatever they need to do?

It’s OK answering, but if you dont know a deaf person, or they havent told you, you wont know. If a deaf person comes on here, I’m sure they’d tell you. I dunno, you’d have to ask one.

Answer #2

Maybe they think in sign…tho, these days, many deaf people actually “talk”…and learn to do so with sound waves etc…Any “sense” that is lost is compensated by the brain…those who have never heard a sound in their lives, started compensating at birth.

An interesting question, and one I’d simply ask a person without hearing, about dreaming and “thinking”…

I don’t quite understand your question? Are you saying that because they can’t hear they might think in a different way? Well, I know that when someone is blind, or deaf, or lame - other senses of their body heighten. Well, as a thought it makes sense to me anyways. I’m quite sure we all have a similar thinking pattern though. Maybe instead of hearing an echo voice in their mind, they visualize. Just an example.

im pretty sure they think too. I have a deaf aunt and when she wants to tell me something she shows that shes thinking about what she wants to say. Also in my class theres this girl whos deaf and she has 2 translators with her and she always asks really good questions. So im sure she has to think of them and then ask. I duno if I make sense?? but hope it helps

well it is obvious they think. They are smart people. It is just interesting to me their thought process.
