What does it mean when someone says you make your bed but dont lie

What does it mean when someone says you make your bed but dont lie in it ( its a metaphor)

Answer #1

I’ve never heard it that way before its usually ‘you made your bed now lay in it’ and this is something I hear everytime I get myself in a big mess…It just means that since you got yourself into this mess you just have to deal with it and find a way out on your own…

Answer #2

The saying is “you made your made now you have to lie in it”

So if you did something wrong, you have to deal with the consequences…

When someone says you dont lie in it, it means you’ve done something, but you’re not dealing with the consequences…

Answer #3

It’s “If you make your bed you lay in it” or something like that and it means if you do something wrong you have to face punishment for it.
