hit him and yell no when you catch him doing it but dont hit him really hard

Your dog is just teething. Don’t worry, it’s normal. Every dog goes through this. Whenever he starts biting, give him a rubber chew toy or some ice. The ice helps with some of the gum pain. Don’t be mean or hit him, just point your finger at him and say “no bite” and give him the chew toy.

Answer #3

Puppies need to chew.

Make sure he has some toys that he can chew on, and when he starts biting, firmly tell him “no”, then give him one of his toys.

Answer #4

Your pup is 5 and a half WEEKS old…and a Chi, no less…they aren’t noted for their biting power…

He is FAR to young for even a slightly harsh discipline …for him, the only thing you can do at this time is substitute your fingers for a toy, or a piece of rope…something that will attract his interest, so he’ll leave your body parts alone…

…and yes, it is a phase…however, he won’t be losing his baby teeth until he’s 4 months old, so you have a ways to go before those teeth are gone…you might have to toughen up a little…

Answer #6

Ok, call it a phase if you will, but if you don’t do something about it now he will think it’s ok to do later. DO NOT hit him!!! I have a boy who is half chihuahua and the trainer told us to make a sound that resembled a yelp only at a higher pitch, like another puppy would do if it were bit to hard, and then as long as he still was trying to bite, turn away and pay him no attention. Didn’t take long and he got the message. When you see him chewing on his toys praise him and that will help to. Good luck
