What do you think about the photoshop war?

Well, we all know that almost every advertisement we see is drastically altered in photoshop to make women look more beautiful and unrealistically thin. Recently Ralph Lauren released an add of a model photoshoped to look even thinner than she is in real life. I think its grotesque and that she looks more like a prepubescent boy than a woman. (You can find this picture in my profile under my images)

What are your views on advertising like this? Do you think the world would be a better place if advertisements were of natural women instead of made up to look like people that don’t really exist because they are so photoshoped?

if you take photo shopping (touching up) relates to all aspects not just media with women, you do realise companys such as pepsi and coke and dell and burger king just to name a few etc all use it in there adverts on tv or billboards etc to make there product look so perfect and appealing with out any glitches or anything to put us off it. you may aswell say take makeup away to as its hiding natural beauty to if your going to remove the photoshoppers.

I enjoy Photoshopping some photos when I have the time. It really does help a photo. But I believe that airbrushed photos should have an actual label on them that states that they were digitally airbrushed in some way. It’s not fair for some people to have such low self esteem, by being surrounded by these unrealistic portrayals of others.

I think the world would be a better place with natural advertisements. In fact I think a fad that will happen soon is unaltered advertisements(with some type of logo stating such)

much like being green is right now.

-I totally agree, I really hope that we start to see real models (not insanely thin) and without all the touchups.
