Which is better metal ring or clear retainer?

Okkay so I am going to get my tounge ring really soon and I need to hide it from my mom and I was wondering when I get it do I have to wear a metal ring so it doesn’t get infected or can I wear a clear retainer?

Will it get infected with the clear retainer?

Will my mom notice if I have a clear retainer?

Do I clean it the same way and I would with a metal ring?

Mmkay, first of all, I wouldn’t try to hide it if I were you. She’ll notice it eventually and be even more pissed at you for hiding it. But w.e floats your boat… =|

When you get it pierced they’re going to put the metal bar in. They have to put the metal bar in because it’s longer then the retainers, and will allow room for any swelling that may occur. Not so it doesn’t get infected.

No it won’t get infected with a clear retainer, but it’s not long, and won’t allow room for swelling, and it may be swallowed into your tongue. (Your tongue can heal over it).

Your mom can notice if you have a clear retainer if she looks close. Not like face in your mouth type thing, but standing a few feet away she could. They’re not invisible. It’s clear so it’s only a tad bit less noticeable.

You would. But you won’t be getting it done with the retainer. Haha especially to get it pierced. There’s 2 materials for retainers (PTFE, and bio-flex), one is breakable (so they won’t use it) and the other is too flexible to put into a fresh piercing (so they won’t use it). And they don’t come in the correct length until your tongue has healed.

if your old enough to get a piercing your parents shouldnt care what the hell you do. so un less your one of them little kids seeking attention then you shouldnt have to hide it.

it depends how well you look after the piercing and how well you look after yourself. Stress and a poor diet can lead to a piercing heeling slowly or becoming infected. Not many places will initially pierce with a retainer so you should ask if they can do this.

will my mom notice if I have a clear retainer? I would most definitely say so. Retainers do not make a piercing invisible just LESS visible.

do I clean it the same way and I would with a metal ring? Yes salty water 2 or 3 times a day and after smoking or eating.

FYI- you don’t get rings for a toung piercing you get bars.

you should have both cause you want 2 show off the piercing right I know I do lol but when you get it you have 2 wait cant take it off or play with it cause it get infected and you dont want that cause I know I dont lol!and you dont wanna get introuble right cause I dont…so here my plan first I get my lip piercing second I wait till it heals ( 6 weeks or so.) third going 2 buy myself a retainer but this after I get my piercings witch I can find in “HOTTOPIC” AND FINALY when its all healed up and my parents whants 2 talk 2 me or something (witch they dont ) lol I can change it in2 my clear retainer :]] I am Smart :p
