A pit granddame mix. She loves my niece to death and protects my sister’s family. She’s very friendly, and very sturdy. The pit stunted her growth so she’s about the size of a medium dog(amd she doesn’t have lock jaw, thankfully). However, her neck is huge. My niece use to hang on her neck and Roxie(the dog) would walk around as if it didn’t phase her. She’s almost nothing but muscel. We had to get s very thick sturdy leash just to walk her so it wouldn’t snap. Eventually my sister had to buy her a chain. She’s very tolerant of children. However, my niece and sister are HER human, and no one she does not know can get near my niece without my sister or a family member that she does know with them. She’s also a very intellectual dog, and quite helpful. My sister went to move a large mattress in her bedroom. She dragged it on the floor, and when it bowed to one side Roxie would go over and push it in, then when it bowed on the other side she’ld go over and do the same thing, etc. My sister and I are actually thinking about making it a new breed ^,^

Answer #3

Doberman pinschers are good guard dogs. The only problem with Rottweilers is the speed. They aren’t as fast as other breeds. They are short hair so they are also easy to keep clean and they can be trained as guard dogs relatively easily.

Answer #4

ANY large dog has the strength to kill a human…and EVERY dog in the world is faster than a human, so speed has nothing to do with anything. But what’s the purpose of having a dog that would want to kill a human? Even burgler can sue the person they’re robbing for a dog bite…and win!!!

All the ‘guardie’ type dogs are dominant breeds…German Shepherd, Rots, Dobes, Pits, Black Russian Terriers, Fila Brasileiro’s, Boerboels etc…so the choice of guard would be a personal preference. They all need very strong leadership, and consistancy…German Sheps are high reaction dogs…they bark a lot, anything that moves that doesn’t belong…Rots a low reaction dogs…they wait to see what is coming. Black Russian Terriers are huge, but very velcro type guard dogs…they would stay close to their human…Boerboels would have have to be very obedient at a distance…A Fila Brasileiro Will guard everybody in the family, and other animals…AND will attack anybody who doesn’t belong…they are huge, strong, fast…and very protective…all these are things make each breed of guard dog have it’s good and bad points.

Strength isn’t the priority in looking at a guarding dog…it’s courage, imperviousness to pain, working ability, and trainability…and those things come completely from the dog’s ancestry.
