What are the first signs of skin breakdown?
"In areas that have thickened outer coverings of skin, the tissue will become macerated. It usually appears lighter in color than the surround skin, and may become friable and peal away. Secondary infections can lead to red, painful and swollen areas. A discharge may develop from these infected areas. The underlying living skin may be irritated and become painful or red."
