What are some jobs by african americans people who were inslaved and free in the coloniest
Hi! Well, first you mentioned "colonies", and then mentioned slaves being freed. The slaves, in general were NOT freed while our colonies existed. We were mostly organized as states by then. But as it turns out, both before and after the slaves were freed, most people would be very surprised to find out some of the jobs done by the blacks. Yes, some were doctors, scientists, lawyers, business owners, or some times they were major assistants for whoever was the primary doctor, lawyer, scientist in a firm, or organization. The ability of blacks to secure good jobs greatly depended on what area they were living in. Naturally, those in the south were much more limited than thos in the new England states. But in the south, the Tuskegee Institute, in Tuskegee, Alabama established in 1881, was a great college for blacks to go to and thrive. And yes, they of course had the stereo-typical jobs of cooks, farm workers, helpers for blacksmiths, janitors, etc. But there were some who seemed to excell inspite of the fact of all the prejudice. Oh, and black soldiers foughth on both sides of the Civil War too! Out of approximately 4 million blacks in America during that war, At least 135,000 were killed or wounded. Of course they were not part of the official count of war casualties, them being considered 3/5ths of a man, at best. Hope this helps you! Take Care! Don
