I actually think that ‘garden boy’ is cool. It’s unique. It’s rare. It’s inventive. Maybe you can make them drop the boy-part. How do you feel about ‘garden man’? Or reduce it to ‘gard’. Only your peer group will know where it’s from.

If you completely hate it, stuff gets difficult. It’s damn hard to get rid of a nickname. Especially one you don’t like. Especially if your friends think it’s funny. Maybe you talk to one person in your group and tell him that you don’t want this nickname and ask for help with placing another nickname.

You might also do something inventive to demonstrate against the nickname. Like have a t-shirt printed that says ‘slash-and-burn’ with bombs and flames on it. And wear it. When people call you garden-boy, show the shirt and tell them the garden was slashed and burned. You are now building a nuclear weapons factory in its place to destroy everyone who calls you garden-boy. But if you do that, people might call you ‘pyromania-man’ next week.
