Weight crisis

Hey, My names Crystal and I’ve never really thought about using this site but after reading some of the questions, I finally had the guts to ask mine. I recently just turned 18, and im 255 pounds and im 5’10. I’ve been over weight sense I was 11.. pretty sad eh. On top of that I’ve been smoking ciggeretts sense I was 13 so that’s not really helping, but im currently trying to cut back. Anyways I wanted to ask if anyone was reading this if they could maybe give me some advice on how to accomplish loosing some of my weight. I know excersizing is one big thing but I feel so uncomfortable excersizing, I get like anxiety when people know im excersizing like im ashamed of being like this. On top of that my relationships suck too, I havent found a decent boyfriend .. not to many guys are faund of ‘big’ women.

Anyways if anyone could get back to me and maybe give me some tips that would be great.. I just don’t really have anybody in my life to motivate me.

How to LOSE weight?

First, determine from the information below, what your weight should be. Then set yourself goals of a week, 2 weeks, a month, 3 months, 6 months and a year. As you see yourself meeting your goals it becomes easier. Remember, you didn’t gain your weight overnight so don’t expect to lose if overnight. Plus, weight lost slowly is more likely to stay off than weight lost in a hurry.

“How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?”

One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it’s not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

“What should a minimum calorie intake be?”

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

“How to “quit” smoking?”

You can’t “quit smoking”. You CAN “become a non-smoker”.

There is a big difference in the way your mind and body reacts to the two attempts. In “quitting smoking” your mind and body tell each other that you are trying to deprive it of something it likes and needs, therefore it works hard at preventing you from succeeding.

In “becoming a non-smoker” you successfully attain your goal while not giving your mind and body a chance to perceive that they are being deprived.

Along with the above attitude change, you can help achieve your goal by having on hand some hard candy. Whenever you feel the urge to smoke simply place a piece of candy in your mouth.

Don’t try to refrain from smoking “forever”. Simply refrain for the next couple of hours.

I, personally, know that the above works. I smoked for 30 years and was up to two packs a day. I successfully became a non-smoker 22 years ago. It wasn’t always easy and I still have nightmares that I’ve started smoking again and “blown” my smoke-free record but then I wake up and am thankful it was only a dream.

The candy I used was “Gobstopper” Jaw Breakers. The lasted about 10 minutes each and effectively replaced the craving for a cigarette.

You, too, can become a non-smoker, even if you’re surrounded by people who smoke. It is your choice. When offered a cigarette you don’t say “no thanks, I’m trying to quit” but instead state “no thanks, I don’t smoke”.

Good Luck!

it’s a bit of a vicious circle isn’t it? you know you need to exercise to get fitter and a healthier size, but you don’t have the confidence to get on a pair of gym pants and start sweating within 2 minutes of getting on the treadmil?

answer, you don’t go and convince yourself that you ‘don’t need exercise to loose weight’

the thing s though hun, that the most effective way, to not just loose weight, but to get healthier, is to exercise…

if it’s getting out of breath or sweating you’re worried about, your meant to get out of breath and sweat! thin of it this way, whenever you are getting out of breath, you are pushing the threshold of your physical ability..you may only be able to do 3 minutes on the treadmill today (before you want to collapse), but tomorrow, you will be able to do 3 and a half minutes…then four minutes…and before you know it, you’ll be doing 10 minutes before you want to quit…

next time you go to the gym, look around, you will see lots of people huffing, puffing and sweating…that’s what it’s al about!

I realse donning a pair of lycra shorts and a skinpy vest top may seem daunting, but you don’t need to wear stuff like that IF you’re not comfortable…get a pair of joggers and a baggy t’shirt…join a gym where you like the staff, and explain to them what you want to do.

if your commited a gym IS the best idea, think about what you do in the evenings, do you snack? do you have a couple of beers? (I know you have just turnd 18but in UK you’re allowed to drink then), I don’t know, thin about how much you spend on nibbly bits, take aways and stuff, or cigarettes, if you stop doing that - that would pay for the gym…

but going somewhere, where you can get support, motivation and encouragmnt is the best idea…it’s hard to make that first step, but it will help!

if your desperate to not join a gym, join a slimming club or something, find other people who have been in exactly the same position as you and who will understand how you’re feeling, and moreover, who have lost weight…seriously, making friends with people who want you to succeed will help hugely! they may even get you to go to the gym with them ;O)

you can do it, but exercising isn’t just about loosing weight, it’s about getting your body healthier. exercise speeds up your motabolism as does breakfast, so just start by making a couple of changes and see how you go.

don’t get too ambtious and go, right I’m; giving up ciggys I’m gunna stop eating al my fave foods *and I’m going to the gym for 2 hours every night…

becuase depriving yourself of everything all at one time will only depress you…

you CAN do it! believe me, it’s just a matter of deciding if you realy want to get healthier…

good luck!

Well, I suggest that you should start with walk, this is fast walk but not like running. Start it with 1 mile and bring it to 3 miles a day. Do not eat anything after this not even water. You can drink little amount of water but not much. Also put yourself on a diet program, I am sure you can see good results after 2 weeks.

Answer #4

Firstly, stop smoking. Then, you can concentrate on losing weight.

I have tried to lose weight, myself but I just cant be bothered at all (even through I would really like to). I have the same problem in the morning to wake up for school.

whenever you think your hungry…either drink a glass of water see if your still hungry after that…or go on a walk or listen to music. then you’ll forget about it. as for excercising think of it as when you are…and people see you they’ll think that your a hard worker and your healthy cause youactually take the time to excersize! it’s true I’ve had weight problems too believe me and I’ve had to take this advice and it has worked. I hope everything works out for you:]

Answer #7

okay, you cant fix everything at once, either try losing weight- or stop smoking, but not both at the same time. it’s too much to take on..

dieting really isnt that hard, if you get something you really like to eat, and just keep eating it that works. portion contols a big part as well. I know weight watchers does wonders, and there’s a lot of support there. no body judges you. everyone’s there for the same reasons.. if you dont want to exercise in front of people- do it at home. dancing is wonderful. turn some music on and go for it. good luck :)
