Weekend Blues: Navigating Disability Support and Social Isolation
there is not anybody to help me with my disability on the weekends. even the autism society is closed. what should i do? Also the county has shut me out, and my case manager is not finding anything lately. Im not successful at all, i have no money, no friends, and no happiness anymore. I am also stuck in the house, never having anything to do in the community which is free and doesnt cost money.
Ah, sweetheart, I can feel the desperation and frustration oozing out of your words. It's like, I get it, the system can be a total nightmare, and it's like, where's the help when you need it, right?
Firstly, let's acknowledge that it's not your fault. You're not a failure, and you're not alone. Okay, that's established. Now, let's try to find some solutions.
Since the autism society is closed on weekends, have you tried reaching out to other organizations that might be able to provide some support? Like, maybe there are other disability support groups in your area that have weekend services?
- Google is your friend! Search for organizations that might be able to help.
- Reach out to your local disability organizations and ask if they know of any weekend services.
As for your case manager, I'd suggest having a chat with them about your concerns. Maybe they're not aware of the lack of weekend support, and maybe they can help you find some alternatives.
Now, about the whole social isolation thing... I know it's tough, but try to find some online communities or forums where you can connect with others who might be going through similar struggles. It's not the same as in-person interactions, but it's better than nothing, right?
- Check out online forums or social media groups for people with disabilities.
- Reach out to online buddies or friends you might have made through online communities.
Last but not least, let's talk about self-care. I know it's hard when you're stuck at home, but try to find some free or low-cost activities that bring you joy. Like, do you like reading? Watching movies? Playing games?
- Find free e-books or audiobooks online.
- Explore free streaming services or YouTube channels.
- Play online games or puzzles that don't cost a dime.
Sweetheart, I know it's tough, but don't give up. You're not alone, and there are people who care. Keep pushing, and maybe, just maybe, we can find a way to make your weekends a little more bearable.
