Is it possible to dye black hair lighter?
I am a black female with long dreads…I am thinking about dying them…nothing drastic of course, (maybe like a reddish brown), since I can’t cut them unless I want to start from scratch…and I just don’t know if it is possible to dye my black hair a lighter color without anything TOO damaging. My hair is already semi weak from the locks being as heavy and long as they are… Are there any suggestions???
Actually, you can lighten your haIr, since your hair is considered virgin, with no chemicals added. This will be a long process, which is called double processing which you will need to prelighten your hair first. Then you would apply the desired color. As long as you do not do this yourself, your stylist will be careful not to over-process your hair. For those saying you will lose all your hair that is abosolutely STUPID!!! The only way you can lose your hair doing this is;
- You have chemicals on your hair already.
- You over-process your hair, leaving it less pourus and vulnerable to damage.

nope, it will kill ur hair and make u got bald. Get rid of the dreads, they went out like 20 years ago and get a cute short do. With any colour you want!!! Just a bit of useless advice like some of the other answers lol!
if your hair is black.. its gonna take allot to get the black out with out stripping it. That will damage your hair very very much if its weak already.
i’m pretty sure the style might fit you, how long have u been grwing them seems like 5 or 6 years, so dying them might not hurt them na mean, so try it you might like it.
If you ever consider getting rid of dreads, use 3 bottles of conditioner. just a useless bit o advice
