Do you have to unlock multiplayer mode in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas?

No, there are little 2 player marks in the game. They are red, and look like two people standing there on the ground holding hands.You can go up to them(stand on them), and press (X) on the 2nd players controller, then this will allow player 2 to select a character and it starts a mission, like free roam.

If you go to the place you first start out in the game, the culdesac, go down the street from that, cross the intersection, pass the bar, then you will see a building that looks like apartments, there are clothes lines hanging around, and arches in the building. The little thing is in there somewhere, you have to look around in there for it.

There are also more of them, but I don’t know their exact locations.
