Is this even a valid reason to break up?

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half and we’ve had a fairly happy relationship. We’re both Juniors in college. He and I have very different philosophies when it comes to motivation. I have it. He doesn’t. It really damages my respect for him. He doesn’t know or really seem to care what he’s doing with the rest of his life. He never works out (maybe this is shallow, but it just implicates to me a lack of ambition) and as a result, I am no longer very attracted to him. Every action in his life just shows me that he has no ambition and I don’t think I should even try to change him. Is this even a valid reason to break up? I love him so much, but that doesn’t mean I love his flaws. I am with him because I think that the bad stuff is worth all the good stuff. I want a future with him, but not the one he is creating for himself.

I’m just worried that as much as I love him, love just might not be enough. What should I do?

have a good long talk with him about it, not argue, not ylling, not acusing, but just talk it out with him, tell him your concerned for him andyou do want a future with him and you love him but he needs to shpe up to give you, and himself, very bright future, just talk to him and make him see your not mad just worried and you want it to last
