Living life just to breathe and tread forward will bring no collections of memories together with connections between one to the next. Your life would be just a scattered puzzle with no purpose in life.
But examining it and putting it all together will bring a completed image of what life truly is meant to be.

I think it means you should question everything you've been told to gain your own set of beliefs and learn as much as you can about yourself, others and the world around you. It's saying if you just always accept what you're told or what someone else believes and walk through life like a zombie, never feeling free to make mistakes and learn on your own, you're not really living, just existing.
